“Enlighten Me” Is the title song of the debut album by indi-artist Shades and Degrees.
The creation of veteran songwriters, Randy Zahara and Jim Shaw, “Enlighten Me” reflects a songwriting depth of compassion, composition, understanding, empathy and maturity that can only come from merging two lifetimes of experience and personal growth with a strong intuitive connection to the collective consciousness.
“Enlighten Me” fuses elements of roots, blues, rock, pop, folk, and country music with compelling melodies and exceptionally well crafted and insightful lyrics.
It is a noteworthy adult contemporary album with a fresh perspective on a full range of subjects and emotions, but it is only a small sampling of the inter-dimensional artistry communicated through Shades and Degrees and captured in the writing of Shaw and Zahara.
“Enlighten Me” is the goal, but it is also just the beginning…
The entire “Enlighten Me” album, and each song is available for streaming, or download, on Spotify and all major music sites. A collective (also referred to as universal, global, or divine) consciousness has always been an inspiration to artists, sages and spiritual practitioners, but, recently, it has also become a motivation for anyone that has the requisite awareness to sense and make sense of the ideas being communicated.
Philosopher Herbert Marcuse said that “Art cannot change the world, but it can contribute to changing the consciousness and drives of the men and women who could change the world.”
It is our songwriting mission to encourage listeners to become more self-aware and consciously independent as we believe that a life lived with authentic conscious-enlightenment is more likely to lead us to a world filled with greater peace, love, harmony and understanding.
